No Fool

It's a simple question. Would you rather be wise or foolish? Few of us wake up in the morning thinking, "Today I'd like to do something really, really stupid. This is the day that I'm gonna sabotage my life." Most of us want to make good choices. We want to make smart choices that lead to success and flourishing. Most of us want to be wise. This fall we invite you to pursue wisdom as we dive into the book of Proverbs together. The book tells us that wisdom is invaluable. Seek it out. Chase it down, even if it costs you everything. Because wisdom is the pathway to life. Proverbs 3 (ESV) teaches us: 13 Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, 14 for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold... 18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed. For these five weeks, we're going to be focusing on the fools of proverbs. These composite sketches stitched together from across Proverbs will show us how to dodge folly and catch wisdom. As the old saying goes, "Mama didn't raise no fool." So maybe it's time for us to wisen up.
