Follow Me: The Disciple's Life With Jesus

It’s easy to get distracted by everything that’s going on in our world. Church scandals, political polarization, viruses, even enneagrams compete for our attention. These are important topics, and they shouldn’t be ignored. But in the frenzy of our attention-grabbing media and social algorithms, the people of God can lose sight of what’s most important. We sometimes fail to keep the main thing, the main thing. The primary call of Jesus to his disciples was to make disciples - those who would obey, find their identity in him and tell the whole world what he has done (Matthew 28:18-20). Since discipleship is the main thing, could it be that ignoring this central tenet is contributing to our biggest problems? The call of Jesus to his disciples to “take up your cross and follow me" has not changed for two millennia, across every continent and in every culture. While the world is in a continual state of flux, this one thing remains the same. This is an anchoring series in a sea of confusion. We want to cut through the chaos and put first things first, to recalibrate our lives to Christ's highest calling. We are Christ's image-bearers. We've been set free by him to become like him, as partakers and sharers of his abundant life. He forms us as we choose to follow him. At Crosspoint we return to the Five Marks of Discipleship every fall, exploring each in nuanced ways. This series is framed around these five marks: growth, service, mission, pursuit, and community.
