Gift of the Father

The Easter Season begins with Easter Sunday, the resurrection of Jesus and concludes with the Day of Pentecost, the visitation of the Holy Spirit. The resurrection of Jesus confirms the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross and the visitation of the Holy Spirit confirms that all the promises of God the Father are yes and amen in Jesus Christ. (II Corinthians 1:20) Luke 11:13 refers to the Holy Spirit as a gift of the Father that He willingly gives to us as an answer to our prayers. Jesus directed his disciples to “not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift of my Father…for John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. Following Resurrection Sunday, we will be considering “The Gift of the Father”, who He is, what He does, how He walks with us in life and what we need to do to fully engage with the Holy Spirit.
